Join us on an autumn wander around Bosnia and Herzegovina. Two days of discovering the best kept secrets of the former Yugoslavia, history and mandarins are waiting for us!
 

DAY 1: Novo mesto - Brežice - Banja Luka - Jajce - Konjic - Jablanica

Departure at 02:00 from Novo mesto and 02:30 Čatež ob Savi. Night drive across Croatia towards the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, past the town of Banja Luka to Jajce, where we will make a stop for lunch and a tour of the Pliva waterfalls. We will continue our way to the town of Konjic, where we will be served local delicacies in an attractive location with a view of Konjic. Well refreshed, we will visit one of the best kept secrets of the former Yugoslavia - Tito's nuclear bunker. It is one of the largest of its kind in Europe. It could accommodate up to 350 people. It was intended for President Tito, his family and closest associates. The bunker was equipped with supplies for a 6 month stay. After visiting Tito's bunker, we will set off for Jablanica, where we will visit the museum and memorial of the Battle of the Wounded on the Neretva, which is one of the better known battles of World War II on the territory of the former Yugoslavia. The Battle of the Neretva was also staged on the film screen of the same name. We will end first day of our journey by accommodation in a 4 * hotel and dinner.


DAY 2: Jablanica - Mostar - Medjugorje - Opuzen - Novo mesto - Brežice

After breakfast we will drive across the picturesque landscape to Mostar, which got its name from the guards of the famous Old Bridge ("Mostari"). Mostar is also one of the sunniest cities in Europe. We will take a walk across the city, where we will admire the old bridge, get acquainted with the beautiful streets, bazaar and beautiful architecture of this old town along the Neretva and enjoy a morning coffee.

After visiting Mostar, we will head to the pilgrimage center of Medjugorje, where the Virgin Mary appeared to children from the surrounding area for the first time in June 1981. We will visit the sanctuary and the sites of pilgrimages of many believers, and dedicate free time to individual visits. We will leave Medjugorje and head to the Neretva river delta, where we will be greeted by locals and than taken by traditional Neretva vessels - boats through the canals of the Neretva. We also stop for lunch and visit a mandarin orchard where we will be able to pick our mandarins for home. The arrival back home is scheduled around 24:00.
