DAY 1: Departure Brežice - MP Dragonja - Grožnjan - Buje - Rovinj - Vrsar
We will set off in the early morning hours (at 6:00 am in front of Blagovnica Brežice) towards our first long stop in the town of Grožnjan, where art and history go hand in hand at every step. Grožnjan is known as a city of artists and lies in the heart of Istria. We walk through this beautiful medieval town and discover its treasures. The route takes us along the Parenzana - a narrow-gauge railway that connected central Istria with Savudrija and Trieste between 1902 and 1935, leading to the town of Buje, where wine and olive oil from many plantations have always been produced. The trip through the city is rounded off at the San Servolo brewery in Buje, where they brew beer in accordance with the German Beer Purity Act of 1516. The hosts will show us the brewery and present their home-made, unfiltered and unpasteurized beers through a tasting of 6 different beers with local snacks. . After the tasting, we will be served beer maneštra. We will also be able to buy the taste of beer that will stay in our senses for the longest time in their store. After lunch we drive to the city of Rovinj, which will impress us with its narrow streets, architecturally perfect buildings in the Mediterranean style and with many boutiques and cafes. We walk through the hustle and bustle of the city and feel the pulse of this beautiful town in Advent, we will also take time for coffee. Followed by a drive to Vrsar, where we are waiting for accommodation in a hotel *** and dinner.
DAY 2: Departure Vrsar - Nova vas - Livade - Motovun - Buzet - MP Sočerga - Brežice
After an excellent breakfast at the hotel, we go for a morning walk through the town of Vrsar. After returning, we take a bus to Nova vas, where, accompanied by a guide, we first see the pearl of the Istrian underground - the Baredine cave. We will walk through 5 beautiful underground halls, in which stalagmites and stalagmites flourish, and descend to an underground lake, which is located 60 m deep. We will also get to know the inhabitants of this underground karst world. After returning to the surface, we see a special exhibition dedicated to agriculture. The exhibited objects and machines, as well as many documents and paintings, testify to the history of the place and the life of the people there. We will see a permanent exhibition called Traktor story, where we will be introduced to as many as 50 historic tractors and other field cultivators. In the Konobon Gallery, we will listen to the story of the Mediterranean trilogy - bread, Mediterranean oil and wine, which have been present on the soil of today's Croatian Istria since antiquity. The whole experience will be rounded off with a tasting of selected Istrian wines. The path takes us further to the "land of truffles" - Meadows, where they will introduce us to the world of truffles. Our hosts will take us through the history of truffles in Istria, the way of finding truffles, production and various ways of eating them. We will also have a tasting accompanied by wine and a visit to their store, where we will be able to try their delicious delicacies with and without truffles and buy some of them. A short drive separates us to the town on the hill - Motovun, known for its good wine and truffles and for the best-preserved medieval fortress, which developed on a steep slope. A special "shuttle bus" will take us to the city walls, from where we walk through the old town, visit the bell tower on the main square next to the church of St. Stephen, built in 1614 and climb the walls, from where the view extends all the way to the sea on the one hand and Slovenian Istria on the other. We make a stop for a late lunch in Motovun. With beautiful memories of Istria and the promise to return, we head home, where we return in the late evening.
